Our second Playline Pop-Up with Columbus Unscripted was something special. We had a fantastic mix of people of all ages playing together, learning together, and discovering just how fun improv can be.

We played across generations, with ages ranging from 9 to 84. All ages, all ideas, all welcome. Through games, shared stories, and spontaneous conversations, we laughed, giggled, watched one another bravely jump in, and celebrated each person’s unique contribution.

One of the most delightful surprises? Two of our younger players were both 9½ years old, shared the same first name, and even had the same birthday. Talk about an improv scene writing itself! Moments like that remind us how improv begins with simply noticing what’s right in front of us and saying yes to it.

Throughout the session we paused to reflect on what improv means to each of us, and it was inspiring to hear how people already see it showing up in real life — listening better, building on ideas, taking chances, and supporting each other.
Together we built worlds, created some wonderful two-person scenes, and followed strong storylines that emerged from simple ideas. We practiced trusting, brainstorming, scaling ideas, and getting in tune with one another. Mostly, we experienced the simple delight of creating something together.
There was laughter, curiosity, and that wonderful improv feeling of “we’re figuring this out together.” And that’s the magic.
If you’ve ever wondered what improv feels like, it’s a lot like this: playful, welcoming, and full of surprises you didn’t see coming.
